Job Description:

Interstate Waste Services, a leader in non-hazardous waste management in the Northeast U.S., is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Landfill Engineer to oversee and manage daily operations at our landfill sites. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, optimize waste processing, and enhance environmental protection measures. This role requires a blend of technical engineering skills and an ability to manage complex projects to guarantee efficient and safe disposal of waste materials. Design and develop waste containment systems to minimize environmental impact Oversee daily landfill operations ensuring compliance with environmental policies and safety standards Coordinate with environmental scientists, planners, hazardous waste technicians, and other specialists Prepare and review reports on landfill operations and waste management systems Implement and manage projects to expand landfill capacity and improve waste processing techniques Analyze geotechnical data and perform calculations to ensure stability of waste containment structures Advise on the closure and post-closure care of landfill sites Stay updated with advancements in waste management technologies and regulatory changes Strong proficiency in CAD and GIS software Excellent knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards Ability to manage projects, including budgeting and scheduling Proven analytical and problem-solving skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred Certification in Hazardous Materials Management (CHMM) is advantageous
