Job Description:
Interstate Waste Services, a leader in the waste management
sector in the U.S. Northeast, is seeking a skilled Landfill
Engineer to join our dedicated team. In this role, the successful
candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and
overseeing operations and maintenance activities at our landfill
facilities to ensure environmental compliance and operational
efficiency. This position is imperative in supporting our mission
to provide sustainable and innovative waste management solutions
while safeguarding the environment. Design and development of
landfill projects including cell construction, leachate management
systems, and gas collection systems. Monitor landfill operations to
ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including
environmental monitoring and waste acceptance criteria. Prepare and
review technical engineering reports, plans, and specifications for
landfill operations. Coordinate with state and federal agencies to
secure permits and ensure compliance with environmental laws.
Oversee the maintenance of landfill equipment and infrastructure to
ensure operational readiness. Implement and supervise the daily
cover and liner installation in accordance with regulatory
requirements. Coordinate with other departments to optimize waste
processing and disposal procedures. Manage projects, including
budgeting, scheduling, and contractor oversight. Proficient in
engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS systems) Strong
analytical and problem-solving skills Knowledge of environmental
regulations related to waste disposal and landfill operations
Effective communication and project management skills Ability to
develop and maintain professional relationships with governmental
entities and stakeholders Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision
Insurance Life Insurance 401k Professional Engineer (PE) license
preferred Certification in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) is
beneficial
