Job Description:
Interstate Waste Services, a leader in the provision of
non-hazardous waste management in the Northeast U.S., is seeking a
dedicated and experienced Landfill Engineer. This role is crucial
for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of landfill
operations, including the design, operations, and closure
processes. The ideal candidate will bring a robust knowledge of
environmental engineering principles specifically tailored to waste
management practices, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and
local regulations. Design and develop technical specifications for
landfill operations, including containment, leachate systems, and
gas collection. Coordinate with environmental scientists, planners,
hazardous waste technicians, and other engineers to address
environmental concerns. Prepare and review engineering plans and
drawings for landfill projects. Oversee the installation,
maintenance, and operation of landfill systems. Ensure compliance
with all environmental regulations and work to minimize
environmental impact. Monitor and adjust systems as necessary to
meet environmental protection requirements. Prepare reports for
management and regulatory agencies regarding the status and
compliance of landfill operations. Proficient in the use of CAD and
GIS software for design and analysis. Strong understanding of
mechanical and civil engineering concepts related to landfill
design and management. Ability to analyze data and provide
solutions to complex engineering problems. Excellent written and
verbal communication skills, with proficiency in preparing clear
and comprehensive reports. Professional Engineer (PE) license is
preferred. Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or similar
certification is beneficial.
