Job Description:

Efficiency:-- ---------------- Create a work environment that is as productive as possible at the lowest cost possible---------------- Be in command of the action---------------- Primary goal keep all mechanics working efficiently on high priorities---------------- No down time -- Duties: ---------------- Perform and document appropriate preventative maintenance on all trucks, trailers, machines and equipment---------------- Fill out quote forms for approval before any large project---------------- Keep detailed job logs on time, materials and parts---------------- Keep management informed of progress and delays---------------- Stock commonly used parts and supplies---------------- Turn receipts and paperwork in daily -- Safety: ---------------- Wear and enforce Personal Protective Equipment---------------- Everyone has documented Safety Training for their positions -- Employees: ---------------- Keep only fast-paced employees and ensure they are productive at all times---------------- Maintain maximum staffing---------------- Have a plan in place, one step ahead, material ready, so no down time from waiting---------------- Give frequent instruction and training to employees that are not keeping proper pace---------------- Ensure frequent instruction and training, encouraging and bringing up good employees to develop quality leaders and teams that can handle more responsibility---------------- Use disciplinary and incident reports to maintain proper documentation on employee development---------------- Terminate any employee that is not up to standards based on points, pace, attitude, attendance; have good documentation to back it up---------------- Maintain a positive relationship with all co-workers, including those at other Company locations, dispatch, operations and customer service---------------- Build solid interdepartmental relationships with other managers---------------- Perform periodic and annual reviews of employees to assist them in achieving their goalsAnalyze and resolve work issues and assist employees in solving work problemsPromote and enforce safety rules as required by OSHA Inventory ---------------- All material produced should be visibly labeled---------------- Inventory needs to be put away in correct location---------------- Keep adequate stock of frequently used material---------------- Keep adequate stock of supplies and tools, request replacements as needed -- Cleanliness ---------------- Building and grounds should have an orderly, professional appearance at all times---------------- Follow daily, weekly, monthly cleaning schedules---------------- Maintain a safe workplace for customers and employees, meeting OSHA standards---------------- Take any trash to dumpster -- SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises a various number of employees, depending on seasonal requirements. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Educating and monitoring employees in all safety related issues.-- Reports to the Saw Shop Manager.-- QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Employee should have a valid Driver's Licenses. Forklift experience (license not required). They should be educated in the common OSHA regulations. Continued education for maintaining current regulations and requirements will be provided. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat.-- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
