This contract position offers a focused role providing acute care to patients recovering from cardiac procedures, including open-heart surgery, and managing complex cardiac drips and ventilator support. Responsibilities Deliver skilled cardiac step-down nursing care, including management of post-op open-heart patients, heart catheterization recovery, and critical cardiac drips Provide ventilator support and manage complex cardiac/med-surg step-down patients Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes Utilize Epic EMR for accurate documentation and patient care coordination Flexibly float to other units within the facility as needed to support staffing and patient census fluctuations Participate in weekend and holiday coverage on a rotating basis without on-call responsibilities, with an occasional call day during census or staffing challenges Qualifications and Experience Registered Nurse license with a minimum of 3 years of cardiac step-down unit experience Proficiency in managing open-heart surgery recovery, ventilators, and cardiac drips Current BLS and ACLS certifications Experience with Epic electronic medical records system Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills Schedule 36 hours per week, primarily day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Typically works every third weekend and one holiday per contract Additional Details This contract role begins on January 19, 2026, with a 13-week duration and requires flexibility as the facility may adjust shifts up to 36 hours during the contract period. There is no routine on-call obligation but occasional availability for rare call days may be necessary.
