Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN General, Dialysis, Mental Health) Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 52 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Current licensure as registered professional nurse in the state of Ohio Certifications: Not specified Must-Have: - Knowledge of professional registered nursing procedures - Ability to deal with abstract and concrete variables - Skill in operation of medical equipment Description: Provides professional nursing care to inmates and individuals housed in state-operated facilities. Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients. Makes nursing rounds and takes and records vital signs. Prepares and administers prescribed medications and orders treatment plans. Monitors patients requiring restraint on a timely basis, providing immediate medical attention to emergencies. Administers first aid, arranges transportation to hospitals, and contacts physicians when necessary. Participates in staff development and education. Reviews care plans written by staff and trains new employees. Responsible for all health care of bedridden patients, including rounds and evaluations. Performs specialized procedures such as IV therapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, and dialysis. Organizes and oversees 'code blue' team and directs health care staff. Performs clerical tasks, including documenting medications and treatments. Arranges for medical examinations and outpatient clinic appointments. Completes required reports and maintains inventory of controlled drugs. Serves as liaison with other departments and conducts meetings as needed. Demonstrates physical fitness essential for nursing duties.
