HIGH STREET WORTHINGTON, OHIO 43085 Updated: July 29, 2016 Classification: Fulltime Firefighter EMT-P/Part-time Firefighter EMT-B The City of Worthington will be accepting test scores for Firefighter to establish a hiring eligibility list. The City will use this list for both Full-time Firefighter-EMT-P and Part-time Firefighter positions. All testing through National Testing Network (NTN) must be completed by August 19, 2016 Please direct all questions to Customer Support at National Testing Network. Please do NOT call the Department or City directly. Salary Information: Fulltime Firefighters have a 4 step salary range. Normal advancement after 12 months of service. Step A: $54,252 Step B: $63,086 Step C: $67,944 Step D: $73,042. Part-time Firefighters are scheduled for a minimum of 24 hours per month, with additional hours scheduled as needed. Rate of pay $13.96 per hour. Full-time Benefit Information: Excellent benefits package includes medical, prescription, vision, dental and life insurance. Holiday leave bank of 216 hours. Initial vacation leave accrual of 10 hours per month. Department Information: The Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division provides emergency response for Worthington, Sharon Township, Perry Township and the Village of Riverlea. Services include fire suppression, rescue, EMS and prevention/inspections. The division is staffed with 33 full-time and 16 part-time firefighters. Mission The mission of the organization includes emergency response to fire, medical, rescue, chemical and weather-related emergencies; building safety inspections; reviewing plans for new and remodeled buildings; public education and emergency management. City Information: Worthington is located in the center of the state at Ohios crossroads - the intersection of U.S. State Route 23 and State Route 161 - and affords easy access to all parts of Ohio and the nation. Valid Ohio Driver's License or ability to obtain an Ohio Driver's License prior to hire date. Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes Vision: Must have corrected vision in both eyes to 20/20. Academy Certification: Firefighter I and II certification and EMT-P are required for Fulltime positions. Firefighter I and II certification and EMT-B (EMT-P preferred) required for Part-time positions. Prior Experience: Preferred but not required Necessary Certifications: Firefighter I and II certification, Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic certification for Fulltime positions. Firefighter I and II certification, Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic certification for Fulltime positions. Valid Ohio Driver's License or ability to obtain an Ohio Driver's License prior to hire date. Next Steps: The 20 individuals achieving the highest scores on the written examination will be invited to participate in a physical abilities test. This is a pass/fail test. A polygraph examination will be administered to each of the final candidates. The polygraph examination will be administered by a trained, certified polygraph examiner. Subject areas to be explored by the polygraph examination include employment history, general background, personal conduct, illegal drug use, alcohol use, and criminal activity related to theft, sexual conduct, gambling, arrest record, or other criminal concerns. While the results of the polygraph examination will not be used as a single determinant of employment status, deception noted during this segment of the process that is corroborated by other means may eliminate the candidate from further consideration.
