This position is crucial in ensuring the safe and timely delivery of goods while upholding the highest standards of vehicle management. Operate a tractor-trailer or truck in a safe and efficient manner following all federal, state, and local regulations. Load and unload cargo, ensuring that all shipments are properly secured and delivered in a timely fashion. Maintain accurate logs of driving times, deliveries, and vehicle service pursuant to FMCSA regulations. Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance as required. Plan routes and meet delivery schedules, coordinating as necessary with dispatchers and other team members. Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures. Report defects, accidents, or violations immediately and in compliance with company protocols. Proficiency in operating commercial heavy vehicles. Strong understanding of truck maintenance and repair. Effective communication skills for reporting and team coordination. Ability to manage time for efficient delivery schedules. Knowledge of electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB).
