Title: Food Safety Coordinator Department: Quality Assurance

in the overall success of the company. JOB SUMMARY: In this role,
you will help sustain Mennel’s tradition of excellence established
in 1886 as well as support our food safety programs and mission to
reliably deliver superior quality, uniformity, and service. The
primary goals of this position are to prioritize, and drive process
and food safety improvements needed to meet product and process
food safety and quality specification standards. This includes but
is not limited to assessing conformance to product specifications,
HARPC requirements and Standard Operating Procedures. PRIMARY WORK
SHIFT: This position works Monday - Friday 8AM-5PM. May vary
depending on workload. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To

regulations in respect to GMP’s, OSHA,HARPC, the Global Food Safety
Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act as stated in
the FS&Q Statement, and sanitation guidelines as set forth by
the company as listed in CorporateEnvironmental,Health,&Safety
(EHS) and attend all required training sessions. Maintain the
department/facility in an everyday audit ready condition.
Participate in monthly internal food safety inspections. Maintain

Active member of the Food Safety Team. Provides leadership and
direction in regulatory compliance, HARPC, SPC,BRCGS, traceability,
and food safety regulatory matters. Drives and leads the site GMP
Inspection Program within the facility through partnership with
cross functional departments to continuously reduce food safety
risk within the plant. Oversees the food safety programs to ensure
the facility maintains regulatory, third party and customer
compliance. Maintains SOPs, OPLs and forms related to quality
processes and maintains their point of use. Ensures the facility
meets GMP, regulatory, sanitation and BRCGS standards. Develops and
provides training in the areas of quality systems, food safety and
BRCGS. Including overseeing the annual demonstration of ability on
all employees. Actively participates in third party, corporate,
customer, BRCGS, regulatory inspections, and monthly internal food
safety audits. Assists with customer complaints and drives the
solution through root cause and corrective action process. Performs
food safety verification and validation activities. Oversees Food
Safety Plan-Performsfood safety hazard analysis on any new
ingredients or processes. [If applicable]Verify all new ingredients
are added to the Food Fraud Program, meets required specification
and is safe for the customer and consumer. [If applicable] Leads
allergen control programs including annual review, updating
ingredient hazard analysis and training of inspectors. Back-up
support for the QA Manager, Quality Supervisor[if applicable]and
Sanitation Supervisor[if applicable]. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position may have supervisory
responsibilities as determined by the QA Manager and Director of
Quality Assurance. QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below
are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required
to perform this job. A minimum of an Associate Degree or equivalent
required; Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or General Science,
Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or 1-3 years related experience
preferred. B.S. in Baking Science, Food Science, Food Chemistry, or
related discipline is desired. Strong analytical and
problem-solving skills. Ability to lead change within the plant
environment. Ability to work effectively with a variety of people,
teams, and departments. Ability to be flexible with work hours,
shifting priorities, and ambiguity. Demonstrated understanding of
technology, including complexities of products, analytical
equipment, and costs. Capable of risk management, managing issues
to assure proper control, minimize losses, and provide analysis to
eliminate future issues. Strong written and verbal communication
skills. This facility manufactures products that contain wheat,
milk, soy, and egg allergens. Sensory is a requirement of this
position. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple
instructions, short correspondence, memos, procedures, and plans.
Ability to write, complete checklists and other basic documentation
and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information or
data in one-on-one and small group situations to co-workers,
supervisors, and managers. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add,
subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY: Must
use solid judgment when making decisions. Must have ability to
quickly recognize and plan for changing work duties and events.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are

successfully perform the essential functions of this job: While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to stand; walk; use hands to perform maintenance tasks,
reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, twist,
crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally
lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities
required by this job include close vision, distance vision,
peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described
here are representative of those an employee encounters while
performing the essential functions of this job: While performing
the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to
conditions that are typical to a fast- paced manufacturing
environment, including: moving equipment and machinery, dusty,
hot/humid, and cold conditions; employee must be willing to work in
all weather conditions, at heights, and in the presence of airborne
particles. The noise level in the work environment usually requires
the use of hearing protection. Work involves exposure to common
wheat allergens.
