Position Type: Contract

Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary:
PIC has a very exciting opportunity for an Electrical
Superintendent to support a 125MW construction project in Columbus,
Ohio. The Electrical Superintendent provides site support and
oversight for the Controls and Instrumentation (C&I) activities
of the project which involves reviewing all planning/coordination
of activities, reviewing Contractor's deliverables, measuring the
acceptable work product of the Contractor with respect to quality
and contract adherence. The Electrical Superintendent position will
also support the review of contractor's monthly claimed progress
and validation, will assist in the establishment and execution of
project-specific sub-contracting strategies, being accountable for
schedule, cost and quality performance and for the initiation of
responsive actions to achieve contract requirements, customer needs
and the business unit's goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
--- Assist the Construction Site Manager in all necessary aspects
involving site activities.
--- Assist and participate in all aspects of Site Safety oversight,
meetings, walk-downs, etc.
--- Provide support in claim management and documentation including
variation management and reporting and contract entitlements.
--- Effectively apply methodology and enforce project standards and
engineering design.
--- Work with Engineering to complete the design and resolve
deficiencies.
--- Monitor, control and minimize risks on the project relative to
safety, quality, cost, and schedule.
--- Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored
appropriately.
--- Collaborate with, and work alongside Contractor(s) in all areas
of Controls & Instrumentation (C&I) works for the project.
--- Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and monitor receivables
for project.
--- As assigned, facilitate team and client meetings
effectively.
--- Attend regular status meetings with project team.
--- Effectively communicate relevant project information to
superiors.
--- Participate in material orders, delivery, and tracking
process.
--- Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
--- Monitor and inspect C&I works erection / installation /
commissioning activities of the Contractor regarding progress,
compliance with the Contract and applicable codes/standards,
quality, safety and environmental acceptance.
--- Provide input and correspondent with various stakeholders for
the communication platforms and protocols between the Substation,
Power Plant, Owner's campus networks, and the electrical grid
operator.
--- Review, provide input, and approve Contractor's general
erection/installation/commissioning work method statements.
--- Review, provide input and approve C&I works erection
related matters submitted by the Contractor.
--- Monitor and verify Contractor's C&I works progress for the
purpose of schedule adherence.
--- Provide correspondence input for instructions to ensure strict
adherence to general and project requirements.
Job Requirements:
--- Demonstrated successful performance as an Electrical
Superintendent Owner's Rep on multiple projects of similar
design.
--- Demonstrated successful performance as part of EPC Team on
multiple projects of similar design.
--- Advanced knowledge and experience with installation
means/methods for all types of field instrumentation.
--- Advanced knowledge and experience with installation
means/methods for instrumentation as related to Major Equipment to
include boiler/heat recovery steam generator, combustion gas
turbine, condensing steam turbines.
--- Advanced knowledge and experience with installation
means/methods for all voltages of electrical cable and raceway
(tray & conduit) installations.
--- Advanced knowledge and experience with installation
means/methods for electrical & controls equipment.
--- Advanced knowledge and experience with installation
means/methods for earthing & grounding of plant equipment.
--- Advanced knowledge and experience with plant control systems
and networking communications.
--- Advanced knowledge of Construction Safety practices, processes,
leading and lagging indicators.
--- High level of computer literacy with MS Office software, to
include Outlook, MS Word, Excel and Power Point.
--- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
--- Prior working experience with both Engineering and Construction
in multiple disciplines.
--- Knowledge of construction pricing, scheduling, and execution
processes.
--- Experienced at planning, developing and administering project
tendering process.
--- Knowledge of Remeasure / Quantity Contracts and Lump Sum
Contracts.
--- Additional education/training in Quantity Surveying, Commercial
Management. NCMA certification not required.
--- Knowledgeable of engineering & erection scheduling and
execution processes.
--- Good analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
--- Effective problem-solving abilities.
--- An excellent commercial focus with well-developed commercial
acumen.
--- Effective interpersonal and collaborative skills in a matrix
and multi-cultural environment.
Physical Requirements:
--- Frequently sit, stand, or walk for a minimum of 8-hour shifts,
including walking long distances and on uneven ground
--- Frequently climb stairs and ladders, balance and occasionally
stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and maneuver in awkward
positions
--- Frequently lift objects of up to 25 pounds in weight and carry
objects of up to 25 pounds in weight. Occasionally the employee
will have to push or pull objects of up to 25 pounds in weight.
--- Must be able to clearly communicate & hear, have full use of
hands & finger, be able to handle & feel, and be able to reach with
hands and arms extensively.
--- Vision requirements for this position include close vision,
color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception
and the ability to adjust focus
Education / Experience:
--- High School Diploma or GED required.
--- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
degree or experience in lieu.
--- 10+ years' of site experience in power and/or utility
stations.
--- 10+ years of experience for power projects including
construction and commissioning.
--- 10+ years of project experience for projects more than
$150mUSD
--- Additional education/training in Quantity Surveying, Commercial
Management, as well as NCMA certification preferred, not
required.
