Location: Newark, Ohio - United States SUMMARY The Logistics Manager is a salaried position and reports to the Warehouse Leader. This role is responsible for creating best in class performance within Warehouse and Shipping which includes leading 38 hourly employees, working various shifts, 24/7. This person will evaluate the effectiveness of all processes, programs, and procedures within supply chain and ensure the safety, quality, and productivity of these operations. The Logistics Manager maintains a leadership presence across the plant to understand business needs, and engages department personnel in meeting those needs. This person leads through standard work, visual tools and root cause problem solving. Living the safety stand and adhering to safety responsibilities Adheres to, and continuously improves, all plant and position-specific safety policies, procedures, and standards Ensures a safe, clean and environmentally compliant work environment and builds a culture where safety is a first priority 1. Directing Operations Embraces and enforces all safety practices established for the operation. Enforces housekeeping and 5S expectations to warehouse team. Manages daily Warehouse and Shipping operations to ensure on-time and efficient delivery and customer satisfaction Conducts daily shift huddles to communicate daily action plans, company news and safety alerts. Utilizes the Warehouse Management and Yard Management computer systems to perform administrative functions and the operation of the Center Office. Oversees shuttle activity with spotters and shuttle drivers including stock analysis for inventory needs/capacity by location. Communicates with Transportation and Customer Service teams to collaboratively resolve any product or loading opportunities or issues. Oversees transaction integrity in SAP. Communicates warehouse issues to management (internal and external). Back up for Inventory lead to cover absences/vacations. Drives FIFO inventory process, stacking pattern adherence and picking from correct bays. Emergency contact for plant communication to outside support services (Police, fire, EMS). Audits all outbound and inbound shipments for accuracy and compliance to policies. Site contact for outside warehouse/spotting issues. Drives alignment between plant departments Provides input on budget-labor, capital and facility improvements Proactively identifies improvement opportunities and implements solutions accordingly to drive operation excellence of the department, better meet the needs of relevant stakeholders as well as mitigate risks that may disrupt production and negatively impact product quality Leading and Developing Talent Plans and organizes the activities/training of the Warehouse & Shipping department Establishes clear and measurable performance expectations and holds team members accountable for delivering the goals Invests in the growth and development of team members and others to achieve sustained success Job Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or Logistics Management preferred EXPERIENCE Three or more years of leadership experience in supply chain or related field Proficiency in using Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook Proficiency in using SAP Demonstrated success in driving results by engaging others Demonstrated ability to organize/lead multi-functional teams to achieve plant objectives KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Competitively drive results Follow through on commitments and promises Engage self and others in learning ad develop People Inspire and energize others Collaborate and foster team work Excellent communication skills (written and oral) to effectively communicate with people across all levels of the organization Customer oriented Act on analysis Problem solving skills Fluent English About Owens Corning Owens Corning (NYSE: OC) develops, manufactures and markets insulation, roofing, and fiberglass composites.
